The CPMR Baltic Sea Commission participated in the meeting of the Expert Group on Maritime Policy of the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSSS) organised by the Swedish Presidency on 21 March 2018 in Stockholm.
Chaired by Mattias Rust from the Swedish Ministry of Enterprise and Innovation, the meeting gathered representatives from ministries of Denmark, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, the Russian Federation, Sweden.
Other participants included the European Commission (DG Mare), the BONUS Programme, the Northern Dimension Partnership on Transport and Logistics (NDPTL), and Baltic Sea States Subregional Cooperation (BSSSC).
The opening of the meeting by Maira Mora, Deputy Director General of the CBSS Secretariat, was followed by presentations from the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management and the WWF on the Maritime Sustainability Indicators.
During the meeting, members of the Expert Group adopted a new name, “Expert Group on Sustainable Maritime Economy”. It was also decided that the Expert Group on Sustainable Maritime Economy will meet formally once a year and will gather representatives from the business, scientific and academic community.
